Practical ZTL guides
The city pages tell you what applies in each town. These guides answer the questions that come up everywhere, whatever the city: how much a fine costs and how to appeal it, what happens with a rental car, how access works when your hotel is inside the zone, what a disabled parking badge allows, which electric cars, hybrids and two-wheelers are exempt, and how to recognise an active varco before you drive through it.
Each guide is based on national texts (the Italian Highway Code, decrees, ministry pages) and on the checked data of the cities on this site; where a rule changes from one town to the next, a table compares the cities. Sources are listed, with their dates, at the end of each guide.
